Like a breath of fresh air, Princess Marie was dispatched to the opening of the Copenhagen Cooking festival today. In a fresh, cute but undistracting dress, Marie was trusted with the ability to not only sample the various culinary creations at the many stalls set up around the Black Diamond, but also to be able to communicate respectfully and professionally with key players in Denmark's rapid growth on the gastronomic scene, including Rene Redzepi, new celebrity chef of the Michelin 3-star restaurant Noma. Well done, and hope you had fun, Marie!

Today, the eighth edition of the Nordic food festival, Copenhagen Cooking, kicked off. According to the festival, the goal is to "... create a festive frame of the Nordic food culture and celebrate Copenhagen as Scandinavia's center for gastronomy and unique flavours."
It is generally the Danish and Nordic cuisine, industry, artistic chefs, food traditions and good ingredients that Copenhagen Cooking celebrates.
The Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen, was present to hand over to the owner of Noma, René Redzepi, an honorable culinary prize. Her Royal Highness, Princess Marie, serves as patron of the festival and also participated in today's event.
The festival runs from today until 2 September. The program for the rest of the festival can be seen at the Copenhagen Cooking website: http://www.copenhagencooking.dk/.
