Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark used to be rather close friends with Christian Scherfig, the administrative director of the Danish Design Centre. But over time, the friendship with Fred hasn't grown since Mary and the bogwins came onto the scene. Rather, Christian has become closer to Prince Joachim. In fact, Christian's wife Agnete Arnø was bridesmaid to Princess Marie and Christian himself is godfather to lille prins Henrik. Joachim and Marie attended Christian and Agnete's wedding at Chateau Vignelaure in France where Joachim was Christian's best man (BB #40, 2009), in September 2009 a few months after the couple's daughter was born.
There is a profile of him in this week's Fri magazine in Berlingske. He discusses how he is leaving his very prestigious position as director of the world renowned Danish Design Centre and will be devoting himself to being a father to his 2.5 year old daughter Tuva.
Perhaps it is then not so surprising that Mr. Scherfig as a responsible, modern man who does not want the same distant childhood for his daughter as he had, is now closer to family man Joachim, rather than the childish and irresponsible Frederik.
