Alexandra Opens a Breast Cancer Campaign in Aarhus: Still Keeping a Public Profile and Giving Back

Those Schackenborg ladies are ever reliable! Countess Alexandra of Frederiksborg opened a breast cancer campaign in Aarhus yesterday. The 49 year old former princess still comes out of a mostly private life every now and again to work with her few remaining patronages from her days as a royal highness and the high standard marker that Mary could never reach. The fight against breast cancer this year has been titled "Let us fight together"

300 volunteers from mid-Jutland gathered at Turbine Hall in Aarhus, where Countess Alexandra gave a speech and opened this year's campaign against breast cancer.

This year, "Support the breasts", which belongs to the Cancer Society, celebrating its 10th anniversary, and Countess Alexandra think there have been major advances in cancer research in the period in which she was patron.

"The curve is broken, the dying one percent fewer women per year of breast cancer. It does certainly something to support the campaign", sounded Countess Alexandra's call.

Dude. Something is up. Is this just coincidence that Derf and Yrma are off on far-flung corners of the earth from each other, leaving their young children in the exclusive care of nannies, and being given enough rope to hang themselves, what with Yrma unintentionally insulting Arab and Muslim countries with her Looker Me! photo shoots thankfully under no one's real attention, and with Derfie chasing American tail sailing and talking dirty with his mates in the US under the guise of his très sportif IOC membership?

 

What is UP? Here it is Flag Day in Denmark and happily married and dutiful Team Schackenborg has taken the baton and run with it. Joachim, elegant in his lieutenant colonel uniform, and Marie, looking more polished than usual befitting the importance and solemnity of the occasion, were off to the Citadel in Copenhagen, just up from Amalienborg, to participate in today's ceremony marking the international efforts made by the Danish military since 1948 and honouring fallen soldiers and their families. Afterwards they attended the associated service of remembrance at Holmens Church, the church dedicated as the naval church, and also where Daisy and Henrik were married and the Miracle Twins were christened.

 

What a graceful pair they make! No Looker Me! antics or round shoulders from Marie, rather there is perfect posture and sobriety. Pure regalness from Joachim who has the natural build and composure that honours a uniform. Reminds of the also physically elegant Felipe and Letizia in Spain. No bogans, here. Daisy has surely taken note and is quietly keeping the Derfson family at bay allowing them to be preoccupied with their favoured sporty play and PR silliness and embarrassment, and has pushed her more professional and dignified younger son and his wife into the role more properly occupied by the heir. Signalling some future shuffling among her children for the long term survival of the monarchy? Just a glance at her grandchildren would tell her which way to go! Perhaps this is why Nikolai and Felix are still offered lovely professional photo shoots on their birthdays while Yrma is allowed to take out her long lens usually reserved for The Poors? And why Nikolai was given such a royal and lovely confirmation? Stay tuned!

Happy 14th Birthday, Prince Nikolai!

 

 

 

Handsome young Prince Nikolai, eldest of Daisy's grandchildren, celebrates his 14th birthday today! Tillykke, Niko! Such a charmer and really getting grown up, but brother, does he look like a rambunctious teenager! His looks are a nice combination of his mother and Prince Joachim. He seems to have Uncle Derf's physical, risk-taking characteristics. Don't know yet if that is good or bad; it's up to Alexandra and his father to keep thatty in check!

Bien Joué!: Team Schackenborg Gets It Done With Pleasure and Dignity: A Real Value For the Money Team!

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie have really been doing their duties! What a busy August, a month typically lazy in the run up to the return to school. Makes their tiny raise for the 2013-2014 fiscal year and their overall less-than-Derfie annual wages feel rather well earned. A novelty for Danish royals!

Joachim attended the 300th anniversary of the Army Officer's School. The Royal Life Guards band played, and there were representatives from Norway and Germany present. After the celebratory event in the courtyard, Joachim placed three wreaths at the school's memorial to fallen soldiers in WWII and international missions. Derf's still in San Francisco for America's Cup fun.

 

 

Meanwhile, Marie inaugurated the Rybners Gymnasium (high school) in Esbjerg, on the Jutland coast. A local to Møgeltønder venue! Nice! It's hard not to notice how Marie has really grown into her role now five years after her marriage and arrival in Denmark. She's fitter, leaner, more beautiful. She's completely blossomed as a person. A loving marriage, motherhood, country life, language skills and a total embrace of her new homeland. A real asset to Denmark!

 

 

 

 

Prince Joachim was in Paris yesterday to speak at a dinner meeting of the International Federation of Historic Motor Sport Commission. Nice to have this multi-lingual prince able to meet and greet related to his hobby of car racing.
